1. Do you wash your hair daily?

A lot of advertisements dealing with shampoos, claim that you can wash your hair every single day and nothing happens to your hair. Do not get carried away by such claims. Well, what happens while you lather your hair every day? Your mane actually starts developing more oils as it has to compensate the smoothness or silkiness caused by shampoos. This way, your hair becomes oilier. Instead, when you opt shampooing your hair every third day or so, the natural oils penetrate down to leave your hair shinier and healthier.

2. Brush your teeth at the time of taking a shower

Some of you go to the shower as soon as you get up early in the morning. You tend to brush your teeth while having a bath. This is however not advisable for the simple reason that you would not be giving your teeth ideal attention they truly deserve. You need to brush your teeth front and back, for at least 2 minutes to prevent cavities and bad breath. You also need to brush your teeth before going to bed.

3. Exfoliate everyday

All of you have a wrong notion that when you exfoliate every day, you remove the dirt build up on your skin, the clogged pores open up and you can maintain a flawless skin. But the concept works the other way around. Over scrubbing makes your skin oilier and the skin cells accumulate more dirt or bacteria. Solution for this: Exfoliate once every three days or once a week. Even your white heads or black heads come out with a weekly session of exfoliation.

4. Wash towels or loofahs not replaced

In a hectic and fast paced urban life, one hardly gets time to replace wash towels or loofahs on a frequent basis. This makes the towels or loofahs a breeding ground for bacteria accumulation. A lot of body dirt and excessive oils secreted by the body, at the time of taking a shower gets clogged in the towels or un-replaced loofahs. Replace your linen or loofahs once every 2 or 3 days.

5. Do you shave your legs before taking a bath?

In your overwhelming desire to have those flawless looking long and slender legs, you take to the razor first. This is a strict no-no. If you don’t have enough time, the ideal solution would be not to get your legs shaven in the first place.

Do you crave for smooth legs? Place your feet in warm water for at least 15 minutes. The heat from the water softens your legs and opens up the follicles. And then, get your feet waxed. Do not forget to moisturize your feet after the procedure. All the moisture trapped in the hair follicles covering the feet, would have come out. You need to compensate for the amount of moisture that has been lost.

6. Hot tepid water

I know the fact that the weather outside is pretty cold. Those long showers in hot water can really feel nice. But what happens is hot water showers tend to take the moisture out of your skin leaving it dry. You tend to develop itching or even skin eczema in the worst case. Try taking bath in warm water. And use a shower gel instead of soap.

7. Washing hair without giving those strands a thorough session of combing

This is a common mistake, which most of us tend to commit. Lack of time is the main reason behind this. You want to rush to office early in the morning to attend to those hectic board meetings of yours. But then washing your hair without giving it a comb, can hamper your hair in the long run. You get split ends and your hair becomes dull and lifeless.

Comb your hair with a wide toothed comb and get rid of the tangles first. Then, you can wash your hair. If you have a hectic schedule for the day, you can skip your hair wash in the morning and take one, after you come back home. Use a conditioner if you have dry hair. You get a moisturized feel, for your hair.

8. Being rough with the towel

Again this is a common mistake which most of us tend committing. The reason is attributed to lack of time. Being too rough with the towel can cause skin dryness and itching problems. Excessive drying of hair can cause hair follicles to break out leading to hair fall in the long run. Pat dry whenever possible. And avoid wrapping the towel on your hair.

These 8 common blunders associated with having a shower can be minimized. All of us are caught in hectic and busy schedules. But if you spare a little more time and give attention to these minute things, you can maintain a fabulous skin and hair. Don’t you want to look flawless all the time?

You need to bring out the youthful side of you, isn’t it?
