Being a working women is a tough role, as she has to balance home and office effectively. Between home chores and meetings, between waking up early to get to work and leaving on time to get home. In all this, women often tend to ignore their health. The stress and the erratic diet have a major impact on their waistlines, and more importantly on their overall health.
It is often observed that women tend to compromise on their meals which leads them to various health conditions, both minor to major.
The culprits:
In the stressful work environment the culprits affecting the health of women are, afternoon chocolate runs, caffeine breaks, business lunches, and of course fast food. At times, some of these are unavoidable so it is important to make the best out of the situation and choose a healthier option. Here are some quick do’s and don’ts for that fab waistline you’ve always wanted.

- Do not miss Breakfast: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, hence do not miss it under any circumstances.
- Say no to processed food: Food that is altered from its natural form to maintain the shelf life is processed food. As it goes through various processes, it loses its original benefits, so stay away from it.
- Go low on sugar: Keep your sweet cravings in check, start by reducing the quantity, and eventually aim at not eating sweets at all.
- Low on caffeine: Switch to tea from coffee, and gradually to herbal tea. Herbal tea has anti-oxidants which does wonders for your skin as well and maintains the calcium levels in your body.
- Stay away from alcohol: Alcohol is absolutely harmful to your body. Stick to a healthy beverage. If you do enjoy the occasional drink, moderate it and try to not develop a social habit.
- No Junk food: Junk food is a major culprit in adding those inches to your waistline, hence stay away from it. Fruits make a great substitute.
Do the Do’s
- Nothing beats homemade dabba: Ditch your cafeteria food and stick to homemade dabbas, where you know that all the contents used are fresh and as per your diet requirements.
- Eat fresh fruits: Include fresh fruits in your diet. At least have a banana as it fulfills the need of iron of your body.
- Get high on milk/curds: Unlessyou arelactose intolerant, nothing beats a good glass of milk/butter milk or a bowl full of curd.
- Small meals big benefits: Having small snacks in between meals will help you feel fresh. Having dry fruits in between meals is a good idea.
- Drink water: Drink at least eight glasses of water every day. Carry a bottle of water always, and keep yourself hydrated as dehydration leads to lethargy and headaches.
- Eat less stay healthy: Key to good health is eating little less than your hunger and not over-stuffing yourself with food. It takes the brain some time to realise that your stomach is full. Eat slowly, and eat in moderation.
- Exercise: There is nothing in this world which will benefit you more than regular exercise. Make a part of your daily schedule. Even if it is for just 20 minutes. Follow these basic rules of eating and you’ll see your waistline shrink. Follow them religiously, and you’d have taken your first step towards good health.

You’re right. Don’t miss breakfast. This suppresses the appetite for most of the day and provides fuel for the brain while at work. You will feel better and have more energy all day if you eat a low fat cereal in the morning.
I think women need to be more careful. Importantly during her pregnancy.
