7 Curly Hair Do’s and Don’ts
Naturally curly locks can look good, healthy and bouncy only when they’re maintained well. Not many people really know curly hair needs delicate care, as well. Though curly hair looks strong, they need nourishment and care just like other hair types do. If you love your curls, you will definitely want to know Do’s and Don’ts for curly hair. Let’s take a look at few important ones here.
Do Deep Conditioning: Curly hair can be quite challenging to manage. Using a deep conditioner can help a great deal with making your curly mane tamer. After shampooing, don’t forget follow up with a deep conditioner. A good idea would be giving your hair a good oil massage an hour before shower for added luster and shine.
Don’t Brush Wet Locks: You should never brush when you hair is wet, since it can alter your natural curl patterns. When you let them dry before you brush, they get adequate time to set properly. Many think brushing curly hair when slightly wet, can make it more manageable. Not many know the opposite is true, besides the fact that brushing wet hair can damage the strands.
Do use the Right Styling Products: Curly hair needs special care and grooming. Now, there are special combs and detangling combs for those with curly hair. Likewise, shampoos, conditioner or ever hair serum or creams, come specially formulated for curly hair. Pick and choose the right styling accessories and products to ensure right care and handling.
Don’t Shampoo Often: Try avoiding shampooing your hair every day. This will make already dry hair, drier. Remember, curly hair is almost always drier than usual. You can use a shampoo once a week, or twice when you have an active work profile. If you have to wash other days, just use plain water!
Do wear a scarf at night: Curly hair needs special protection, especially at nights when they can end up becoming frizzy and tangled. Remember to use a scarf or breathable shower cap at night to protect your curls and avoid frizzy or weird looking hair when you wake up.
Don’t use heat to dry your curls: Like mentioned earlier, curly hair is already dry and you don’t want to worsen it by using a hair dryer. Let your curls air dry to avoid frizzy or dry hair. If you must get ready quickly, use a generous lather of hair protection serum when using a dryer. Also, remember to use a diffuser to ensure heat is evenly distributed during the drying process.
Do choose hair styles that protect your hair: Though you might want to rock current trends when you’re out, you don’t want to end up spending hours fixing your messed up hair later! Instead, opt for hair styles that will protect your natural curls and enhance your looks, without damaging your curls like plaits, buns, twist outs, etc. Never go for tight ponytails either!
When you follow these simple tips, you can wear healthy and bouncy natural curls anytime.
