A Jewellers Workshop
Jewelry making doesn’t need big spaces or equipment. If this is your first workshop then you only need selective workshop pieces with basic hand tools. This is all you need for the first workshop.
First Workshop
In the beginning one can start making jewelry either on table, worktop, kitchen table etc. For jewelry work one needs a table clamped with a G clamp. As the jewelers specific peg or pin has to be placed securely so as to give user a robust place to work.
However, the peg has been considered as the most important and fundamental part of this overall process, as it allows the jeweler to work faster and accurately. Basically it is triangular shaped wedge that supports the piece on which are going to work. It generally helps in holding the piece in a notch. Using this apparatus the piece can be hold still and rigid which on the other hand allows the jeweler to cut and file it accordingly.
If possible a jeweler should always choose a elevated table to work on. In that case it will come upright to your chest and will help you see clearly and better grip on your tools and equipment.
Light and Ventilation
Though you have a choice in selecting normal bench or elevated one but make sure that you have taken care of two very important factors while choosing your working location i.e. light and ventilation. It is required that the working area selected should have a good ventilation along with a good, direct and bright lighting. Try to avoid shadows falling at the center of your working area, though there are some specified things by which you can natural light can be complemented i.e. adjustable lamps.
Jewelers Bench for Professionals
Well when it comes to professionalism, the arrangement has to be perfect for any sort of project. However you don’t have to be extravagant while choosing a good bench. A good bench on the contrary will last with you a lifetime. Moreover, it will help you in developing your techniques. As we discussed earlier also that benches for this purpose should be chosen higher than normal desks. The height of such benches should be mid chest level. This has been put into the consideration that jeweler doesn’t has to stoop while working. You can also opt for a bench that has a semi circle cut allowing the jeweler to sit closer as well as with the boundaries so that the scrap will round up to the border of the table only ensuring the safety to the jeweler too.
How to Manage Jewelry Tools
It is very important that the working environment should be well organized and tidy. This will help you in making a nice and healthy working environment. Make sure that all the tools and equipment are kept in the arm range of the jeweler. While working jewelers left heir tools on the bench itself, so if there is a space on the work top it can be left over there for immediate access. It brings the jewelers mobility and speed to work.
So you can prepare a nice workshop for yourself if you want. Once the workshop is established you only need to bring your tools like saw, filers, pliers etc.
