Your face is the visual portal for communication. As said correctly, first impression is the last one. When one is in contact with an individual, the first assessment is the facial expressions, most specifically around the eyes. Upon greeting, one directly looks into another’s eye to initiate a conversation. On the other hand, the periorbital structure and skin provide non-verbal messages as one expects. For instance, raised eyebrow, open-eyed indicates receptivity and friendliness and on the contrary wrinkles and frown indicate fatigue and disinterest.

What if you are facing such a problem with your face? Well, there is a perfect solution for such a problem. The Unites States’ Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of Botox cosmetics for the improvement of moderate to severe lateral canthal lines popularly known as Crow’s feet. It is those annoying wrinkles on the side of the eyes. Earlier the Botox cosmetics were used to treat wrinkles glabellar lines (wrinkles between the eyebrows, known as frown lines) but did not have the green light for the lines around the eyes.

Repeated muscle contraction over a lifetime through different facial expressions such as squinting, frowning and smiling cause crow’s feet’. The folding of the skin caused by these contraction produce permanent lines in the skin. The new FDA approved treatment is ideal for those seeking smoother look by minimizing the appearance of crow’s feet at the sides of the eyes. However, the treatment is temporary. 833 adults were randomly assigned to receive either placebo injection or Botox. However, people treated with Botox were found to have greater rejections in crow’s feet.

The most acutely toxin substance Botox is a neurotoxin and protein which is injected directly into a muscle in doses as approved by the physician. This protein is prepared from bacteria Clostridium Botulinum that blocks the transmissions of muscle activity from the nerve to the muscle. Botox temporarily paralyze the muscle and prevent them from tightening. This makes the wrinkles disappear for at least six months. Patients can immediately return back to their daily activities after treatment without any interruption.

One Botox treatment taken ten minutes with noticeable results within a couple of days and continue to improve the skin’s texture throughout the first month after its application. The treatment is safe, quick and affordable and allow patient to make all of their facial expression after each of Botox treatment. You can achieve the smooth, tight, youthful looking appearance as desired. A person needs 24 units of Botox treatment for moderate to severe crow’s feet.

The Botox labels comprise the strongest warning about the effects of the toxin from the area of injection to other areas of body if it is not used as recommended. The package insert for Botox contain warning that says Botox may potentially spread beyond the injected area if not used appropriately as directed by the health experts. It can cause severe problems such as breathing troubles, swallowing, that can be life-threatening. As according to Dr. Macro Harmaty, the reconstructive and plastic surgeon at the Mount Sinai Medical centre in New York, Botox has been frequently used not only for treating crow’s feet but to other unapproved areas of the body such as side of the nose.

Botox will not be covered by insurers as long as it is used for cosmetic purposes. Usually, insurers cover people who have approved medical conditions treated by Botox such as severe underarm sweating, chronic migraines and more to add. While its competitor such as Dysport or Merz Aesthetics works in a similar manner, however, Botox is presently the only approved treatment for crow’s feet.
