Winter 2013 Female Fashion Trends: Denim Revolution
This trend has survived the summer, and the years, with denim becoming a wardrobe staple not when it comes to jeans anymore. Although there are plenty of jeans styles to choose from if you want to stick to traditional denim, there are now a variety of new sub-trends popping up and inevitably hanging around, as the world rediscover their love for the versatile material. Some might even say it’s a ‘denim revolution’! We asked luxury watch brand and fashion favourites Michel Herbelin to weigh in on their favourite picks of the denim trend, and here’s what they had to say:
The Watch
Denim lovers are in for a treat this season, as some sneak peeks of designers’ new ranges shows a wash of denim inspired watches are on the horizon! We particularly like the Guess Blue Denim Effect Bracelet Watch (as pictured). More denim effect and real denim strapped watches will be cropping up during the season, and we can’t wait. It’s the ultimate denim accessory!
The Overalls
One of our all time favourite sub-trends within the ‘denim revolution’ is the overalls. They are cool and comfortable, and yet so versatile. Wear them in the daytime with a t-shirt, chunky knit cardigan and boots or sneakers for a chic, effortless look. And then come evening, done a nice crisp white blouse, some bling and a pair of heels and you are set to go out on the town! They come in all different lengths, styles and colours, and there are not many outfits that can be so changeable and versatile, so that’s why they get our vote.
The Jacket
Now where on earth would a woman be without her denim jacket? It’s a much loved denim wardrobe staple, and can be worn in so many different styles and ways that it becomes an expression of individuality. Whether you like the oversized vintage styles, the distressed look, the three quarter sleeves or the embellished styles, there is something for every woman in a denim jacket. And they are easily customisable, as you could chop the sleeves, add your own embellishments or distress new denim yourself to create your own style.
The Dress
The perfect way to get away with denim at work, denim dresses are feminine, comfortable and can be smart enough for the office with some black tights and blazer or cardigan. Whether you opt for the loose fitting tunic, the figure skimming skater or a smart/casual shift dress, there are plenty of colours and styles to choose from and they can be worn both in and out of the office.
The Shirt
The denim shirt is another weekend wear favourite, and can be paired with just about anything, including denim! The double denim taboo is well and truly smashed to smithereens, so don’t be afraid to wear double denim proudly. Pair an oversized boyfriend style denim shirt with skinny jeans or leggings and a t-shirt for an effortless, casual chic style, or show off your feminine side with a denim shirt sporting girly embellishments or embroidery over your overalls or over a denim dress for an extra feminine look.
However you choose to wear it, you can be sure that the denim revolution has cemented denim into our lives, and it isn’t going anywhere soon, so get shopping for your next denim must have!
