There is an interesting saying that, “If eyes are windows to one’s soul, then body posture is lens to our health!” The way one sits and walks have immense effect on their health and proves to be either beneficial or harmful in the long run. Though the make of your body cannot be drastically changed, if you just know how to improve your body posture it can be of immense help to you. Improvising on such tips will not only give you a better body posture but also a great health. You must have noticed that you get back ache or neck pain very often; this is a sign of poor body posture. Especially in today’s time where people live an exhaustive lifestyle where they spend hours on working at the office, maintaining a good body posture becomes imperative if not then be prepared to face its adverse effects.

Here are a few important tips on how to improve your body posture:

  • The next time you stand up make sure that you distribute your weight evenly on both feet. This might give you a feeling that you are leaning forward but hold the position for as long as you can and try to maintain it while walking too.
  • Play a little mind trick with your body! When you are on your feet imagine that there is a hydrogen balloon attached to your head and it is pulling you upwards. You will notice that with this strange trick you will automatically straighten up your posture. You might thing that you are looking stupid while holding the posture but you are not.
  • Use your mirrors not only for doing your make up and hairstyle but also to improve your posture. Align your ears, shoulders and hips. In a perfect posture your ears should be loosely above your shoulders and your shoulders should be just above your hips.
  • Improve Body PostureThe golden rule- When to sit too long you sump down. Move every 30 minutes, even if it is for mere 30 seconds! Don’t freeze yourself in one place.
  • When it comes down to sitting, a chair with lumber support is important it gives support to your spine and keeps your neck, back and heels in alignment.
  • Don’t alter your body’s center of gravity! For all those ladies out there, don’t wear heels if you don’t need them.
  • Straighten up muscles in your upper back and shoulders by exercising.
  • Ballet! Not only it is a fine dance form, it puts the body in its perfect alignment.
  • If not ballet than yoga is a must. It gives you the strength to hold the erect body posture for a longer time.
  • If you need to pick up something from the ground, especially heavy ones, bend on your knees not your waist.
  • While sleeping; try to sleep on your back, this gives support to your spine and helps to maintain its alignment.
  • Try using rolled towel under your neck and pillow under your knees while sleeping on your back.
