Top 5 Trainers of 2013
Trainers are an essential part of modern fashion as well as being something we all need to wear when taking part in sporting activities. Many people still steer clear of trainers when it comes to putting together their style because they believe they are a fashion no-no. However, modern trends all very much call for trainers to be a part of a great look. With that in mind, we’ve looked at the top five pairs of trainers to have been on the market in 2013. Some are great for ticking both the fashion and fitness boxes, while others are clearly better suited to one or the other. Whatever their purpose, there is no denying all of them are brilliant pieces of footwear.
Nike Flyknit
These trainers first hit the market in 2012 but were revamped once again for 2013, and have proven a hit in the wardrobe of everyone from fitness fanatics to those looking to hit the heights when it comes to urban fashion. Given their appearance, it is no surprise to learn that they were initially designed as a performance shoe, perfect for running or wearing to the gym, but they can also be paired effortlessly with a whole range of legwear for both men and women.
Nike Air Max Sunset
Again, these are primarily a performance shoe – we’re thinking tennis and any other potentially high impact on the legs sports – but it is clear that Nike had fashion in mind when designing them. These look great paired up with casual straight leg jeans, a simple t-shirt and a sports jacket, but such is their potential for transcending fashion that you wouldn’t look out of place wearing them with tailoring for a casual sports look or simply on the beach during the summer months.
Converse Jack Purcell
When people think of Converse All Star, more often than not they instantly think of Chuck Taylor canvas trainers. However, while the Chuck Taylor sub-brand remains an iconic part of fashion, and undoubtedly always will do, there is a feeling with them that everyone has got them, so why not look at wearing something else?
You can stay loyal to converse and go for Jack Purcell’s instead. Perfect for pairing with jeans but also brilliant for the sports court or the gym; just make sure you pick one use and stick to it. Buy two pairs if you need to.
Diadora
After Gola had hogged the retro trainer limelight for some years, it is Diadora’s turn to amaze us with stunning suede trainers that make us feel like we’re back in the 1980s and looking at posters of Kevin Keegan. These are definitely a trainer that you need to be pairing with jeans, a retro track top, and even a mod inspired haircut if you’ve got the nerve for it.
Spring Court
The best thing about Spring Court trainers is that they are hard to find, even online, so if you do get a pair you know you’re going to be one of the few sporting the brand. Not for sale in your mainstream sports shops, this is a top quality footwear brand that is great for function and for fashion.
